Snow, snow, snow, well the snow so far!

The snow….

The conditions were good to go freeriding and skiing, during the last few days. I went out for a short test tour, which was about 3 hours altogether, to see how the snow was and to acclimatize to the altitude of about 3000 meters above sea level. This consisted of walking up hill with skins and skiing down through powder. The weather was amazing with clear blue skies and cold temperatures.

The weather was good until today because it snowed yesterday, about 30 cm, but it was about 4 to 7 degrees celsius up here in the mountains, so the snow got wet and heavy and begins to slide this increased the risk of avalanches.

Outdoor Research

This season I’m skiing with the Outdoor Research AXCESS jacket and pant. The combination is great because when I’m skinning up a mountain I can use the cross flow system with the chest to hip zip to regulate my body temperature so I don’t get to hot. When Im taking a break or ready to go down, the Prima Loft eco insulation is there to keep me warm. But even on those big powder days the  GORE-TEX material, which makes the outer shell of the suit, will keep me dry and with the lock down technology I can ensure that no snow gets up my jacket through a cleverly designed powder skirt which can be attached to the pants.

The weather forecast shows cold temperatures and good weather coming starting Monday until the end of the week!!
